The Toilet Sticker Collective Network

As the post-its on the toilets were quite successful we wanted to get this idea to the next step.

We started to create many kinds of stickers and a blog explaining our project and encouraging people to leave some feedback.

To be accurate in our process, we had to give it a strong identity and come up with a real brand.

Choosing fonts and colors, we started to design a wild range of stickers with the same tone of voice, to communicate in the utmost precise way.

We went to different pubs, cafes, bars all over London, placing stickers within the toilet area, putting some on the walls and leaving some around so people would stick them too. Little by little, stickers would be put on the walls, taken to another pub and sticked in different toilets!

I think that we're already on the right track, but the stickers are still not "perfect". It's quite a challenge to find the right design. It shouldn't look too good so that people would actually stick them and not just take them home. But also not too bad, otherwise there's no motivation to engage.

We chose this "handwritten" font for the stickers, because we wanted to keep the style of the post-its, but we should definitely try out more in order to really motivate people to use them.

Analogue Text Messaging

After we sticked post-its on toilet walls we tried to send some by post. Some of them really arrived just two days after. Although it would have been quite interesting to develop this idea about analogue text messages further, we had the feeling that it got too far away from our starting idea.

Time flies

... and I haven't posted anything! So here we go.
Second term started some time ago and I already did some new stuff.
One of the big projects this term is about creating a network that uses the principles of Mail Art.
I'm in the group with Vanille and Francois and so far we had quite fun working together.

The basic idea was to create a network in a given space and time. Through research we came to the conclusion that toilets in a pub/bar/club are also a place where people communicate in a certain way.

We took inspiration of this certain „network“ and thus started to create another, familiar one by sticking post-its on the walls of differtent toilets.

To get people interacting we wrote different questions on the post-its that they should answer. It took some time but after about 2 hours people finally got pretty motivated and started to answer and also wrote some other quick notes.

That's what we got back (from the ladies toilet) :
